A June birthstone, moonstone is a feldspar whose layered structure scatters light into a soft, floating glow called adularescence. Rainbow moonstone, which flashes blue and violet, is technically a white labradorite, a close feldspar cousin.

Caring for Moonstone

Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Keep away from perfume, lotions and household cleaners, and take it off for the gym, swimming and the washing-up. Store in its pouch so harder stones can't scratch it.
