The stone of kindness
Calcite is one of the most common minerals on earth, but a trace of cobalt turns it anything from shell pink to vivid raspberry. You'll also see it sold as cobaltoan calcite. The finest comes from Bou Azzer in Morocco and from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. At 3 on the Mohs scale it's a soft stone, so it's happiest in pieces that won't be knocked about every day.
In crystal lore, pink cobalt calcite is associated with kindness, self-love and gentle encouragement.
A softer stone that rewards a little care. Put it on last, after perfume and hairspray, and take it off before washing, swimming or exercise. Calcite is etched by acids, so keep it away from vinegar, lemon juice and household cleaners. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only and store on its own in its pouch.
