Rainbow Chrysocolla

The stone

The colour-lover's stone

Rainbow chrysocolla is a trade name for stones banded in red, blue, orange, purple and gold. Natural chrysocolla only comes in blues and greens, so these colours aren't its own: stones sold under this name have been dyed or made up as a composite, much like rainbow calsilica, which is crushed calcite set in resin with added pigment. We choose it for its colour and pattern, and we'd rather tell you that than dress it up.

Meaning & folklore

Because its colour is added, rainbow chrysocolla doesn't carry chrysocolla's crystal lore. Wear it because it makes you happy, which is reason enough.

Caring for Rainbow Chrysocolla

A softer stone that rewards a little care. Put it on last, after perfume and hairspray, and take it off before washing, swimming or exercise. Keep it out of hot water and long spells of strong sunlight, which can fade the colour. Wipe with a dry soft cloth only and store on its own in its pouch.
